About the ( close ) Encounters project

This is a ongoing *) project that started about 2009 and is called the ( close ) Encounters.

The HDR ( High Dynamic Range ) portrait panorama’s are made out of 63 pictures (minimal 9 exposures per angle, 7 angles so 63 images are used to make a HDR portrait panorama.

That makes taking the image with some thrill — it could be ruined due to the fact that if the people are moving the portrait could fail. That idea makes it fascinating for me to do it, Its always exiting to shoot. Warn the "customers" *) in advance: “we will see in the final image who moved, so do not dare to move!” Until now ( almost ) everyone has listened very good in the portrait shoots from the last years.

How the project started

Several times walked in the neighborhood and heard a band had a repetition and it sounded great….. until about early march 2011: thought “what the heck let ask for permission to take a panorama of the band while they had the repetition” so rang the doorbell ;… but completely destroyed the doorbell, actually ripped the complete doorbell out of the wall! Ai…… no not that strong…. so banged on the door, but no one opened ( logistically because the band noise was to loud ). Next tried to put back the doorbell in the wall but it stuck half way…….
Went home and wrote a small letter with saying sorry for ruining the doorbell and asked for permission to take a panorama, then put the letter in their mailbox.
Then heard …….. nothing! Was wondering if the letter did not flew under a cabinet to be found in 2027…….
But 1 april 2011 got an mail from Sandra ( mother of the drummer ) and said sorry for the late reply…. and mentioned that I was welcome to shoot a panorama… only had to call them for an appointment … every Friday they have a repetition… 1 april was a Friday.. so mailed back that I will be there within 5 minutes ( without calling ). Rang the doorbell ( yes it was fixed :) ) … and Sandra openend.
Within 30 minutes the HDR panorama was recorded!
